More European Business Anticipated for Sharjah after ITB Berin 2018

Many tourism stakeholders from various European travel and tourism agencies are said to have visited Sharjah’s pavilion at this year’s ITB Berlin travel trade show to learn more about the emirate’s leading tourism projects.

Europe is an important market for Sharjah as, during 2017, Sharjah received around 468,043 tourists from the continent, up by almost 36 percent from 2016’s 343,987 visitors. According to H.E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), these figures clearly reflect the emirate’s popularity among travellers from Europe.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, chairperson, Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority, added, “Through ITB Berlin, we hope to learn about Europe’s unique advantages as well as tourism products and services as part of our bid to strengthen our relations with German and European institutions.”
